I’m stressed because I’ll be moving across the country in a couple of weeks, so I’m taking a break from my responsibilities to talk about my current obsession: 全职高手 (The King’s Avatar.
The King’s Avatar is a Chinese “anime” about e-sports, a combination of words that I had zero interest in until a couple of months ago when this show started airing. My friend recommended it so I watched the first couple of episodes. And man, I was expecting like an even lower quality SAO ripoff but King’s Avatar is surprisingly great???? I was pleasantly surprised and continued watching and then when I caught up I went to find the novel and plowed through all 600+ currently translated chapters in a couple of weeks and now here I am.
Help, I’ve fallen into the black hole that is Mystic Messenger, and I can’t get up.
Mystic Messenger is a Korean smartphone dating sim game in the format of a chat room. You mysteriously end up with an app on your phone where you talk to various men and one woman, and you plan a party with them, basically. Here is a walk-through.
And me being me, obviously I went for Jaehee’s route first. This is the only route with a woman, and it’s the gal pal route, but close enough I guess. Jaehee is wonderful, okay.
Some spoilers ahead!
No, not the dark descent. I tried playing that one (read: my friend coerced me into it) but made it all of three steps before I quit in fear. I’m talking about that otome game. You know, the one where one of the guys locks you up in a cage? Or the numerous ways you can be killed either by your love interest or their fangirls? Yeah, that one.
I don’t have irl cats, but neko atsume does a pretty good job of filling the void in my heart.
